History
Serving our Members Since 1952
Tranquillity Credit Union Co-operative Society Limited was registered on November 7th, 1952 and was formed as the main financial services provider for employees of the Energy Sector within Trinidad and Tobago. The idea was birthed at Bretton Hall by employees of SHELL Trinidad. Founders were Sheila Priest, George Byam, T. Figuera, and John Huggins made up the first Board of Directors.
Initially located at Bretton Hall, near the Tranquillity Methodist Church in Port of Spain, the Credit Union adopted the name which is still symbolic of our peaceful yet strong nature.
TCU relocated to the Colonial Life building on St. Vincent Street in 1961 and then to the Salvatori Building in 1964. TCU finally formalized its business operations when it was relocated to the NP House, Sea Lots, Port of Spain in the 1970s and finally to our own home on April 11, 2015 at #5 Maraval Road, Port of Spain.
Our bond is now expanded to include spouses, children, siblings, and other relatives of members as well as personnel of companies and institutions approved by the Board of Directors.
